A 16-year-old boy was killed Friday night when he was struck by two vehicles after he ran into traffic on Leffingwell Road, east of La Mirada Boulevard, while chasing a friend, authorities said.

Kristopher Harrington was struck shortly before 8 p.m. by a dark, SUV-style vehicle that did not brake before the accident and left the scene, said Det. Jeff Tibbetts of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy was thrown into another lane, where he was struck by a second vehicle that could not stop in time. That driver stayed at the scene.
