Facing the Winter Olympics and a Northeast blizzard, the weekend film biz was OK, with Sony/MGM’s “The Pink Panther” leading the box office and New Line’s horror sequel “Final Destination 3” in second.

“Panther,” with Steve Martin assuming the role Peter Sellers originated before many of the new film’s moviegoers were born, took in $21.7 million, according to Sony. New Line estimated the tally for “Destination” at $20.1 million.
