Florida Surprises LSU

Sarah Lowe made two free throws with 3.2 seconds left in overtime at Gainesville, Fla., and Florida stunned No. 2 Louisiana State, 79-78, Thursday night to end the Tigers’ 24-game regular-season Southeastern Conference winning streak.

The Gators (18-6, 7-5) trailed, 65-56, with 5:00 left, but held the Tigers (22-2, 10-1) scoreless the rest of the way to force overtime.

Lowe then scored Florida’s last six points in overtime. Her layup with 12.4 seconds left had cut the deficit to 78-77. Seimone Augustus scored a career-high 35 for LSU but only two in the final 5:11.

No. 4 Maryland 86, No. 18 Boston College 59 -- The victory over the visiting Eagles (19-7, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) was the third in a row for the Terrapins (23-3, 10-2) over a ranked opponent.

No. 5 Tennessee 58, No. 13 Georgia 55 -- Candace Parker scored the go-ahead basket with 17 seconds left, as the visiting Lady Vols (23-3, 9-2 Southeastern Conference) rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat the Bulldogs (17-7, 7-4).

No. 6 Ohio State 76, No. 17 Minnesota 55 -- Marscilla Packer scored a career-high 32 points, going eight for 10 from three-point range, to lead the visiting Buckeyes (22-2, 12-1 Big Ten) past the Golden Gophers (17-7, 9-4) for their 13th win in a row.

No. 10 Purdue 75, Michigan 50 -- The Boilermakers (21-3, 12-1 Big Ten), who opened the second half with a 15-4 run, handed the visiting Wolverines (6-19, 0-13) their 12th consecutive loss.

No. 15 Arizona State 62, No. 11 Stanford 59 -- Briann January made four free throws in the final 32 seconds to help the host Sun Devils (21-5, 12-4) move to within a half-game of the first-place Cardinal (18-6, 12-3) in the Pacific 10 Conference.

No. 14 Michigan State 73, Iowa 71 -- Wendy Ausdemore missed an open three-point shot at the buzzer that would have given the visiting Hawkeyes (14-10, 7-6 Big Ten) the victory. Instead, the Spartans (20-7, 10-4) won their sixth in a row.

No. 24 Louisiana Tech 78, San Jose State 48 -- By routing the Spartans (10-12, 5-6) at San Jose, the Lady Techsters (19-5, 11-1) moved into first place in the Western Athletic Conference.
