Cuba Makes Classic Official
Cuba submitted a provisional 60-player roster Friday for the World Baseball Classic, making its participation in next month’s tournament official.
The roster does not include any major leaguers.
Among the stars are third baseman Michel Enriquez, who hit .450 in the island’s national series; outfielder Omani Urrutia, who hit .447; 21-year-old slugging third baseman Yulieski Gourriel; and veteran pitcher Eduardo Paret.

Ken Griffey Sr. is one of four candidates for the Cincinnati Reds’ first base coaching job.
Other candidates are outfield and bunting instructor Ed Napoleon, minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator Lynn Jones and advance scout Pete Mackanin.
