Pepperdine Falls to Portland, 81-75
Darren Cooper scored 24 points, and Pooh Jeter had 18 points and nine assists as Portland beat Pepperdine, 81-75, Saturday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
The Pilots, 9-16 overall, 3-8 West Coast Conference, came back from a 14-point first-half deficit for the victory, and ended a six-game losing streak.
Pepperdine (7-18, 3-8), which lost its fourth in a row, was led by Chase Griffin, who scored 16 of his career-high 21 points in the first half.
Portland outscored the Waves 27-11 over the final seven-plus minutes of the first half -- including a 65-foot buzzer-beating shot by Jeter.
