Chapman Names Easterner Provost

Chapman University has appointed an Italian-born mathematician its second-in-command, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
Daniele Struppa, 50, currently dean of George Mason University’s College of Arts and Sciences in Fairfax, Va., will take over as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs July 1.
Hamid Shirvani left the post to become president of Stanislaus State.
