Tennessee Is Still Undefeated, 94-85

Top-ranked Tennessee beat No. 13 Georgia, 94-85, on Thursday night at Knoxville, Tenn., with Candace Parker leading the way with a career-high 26 points.

The Lady Bulldogs, 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference, came close to ending Tennessee’s home winning streak against league opponents. Instead, the Lady Vols (16-0, 2-0) won their 62nd straight SEC home game.

“I wanted to put on a uniform for the first time in a long time to go play defense. Y’all believe that?” Tennessee Coach Pat Summitt said.

No. 3 Louisiana State 79, South Carolina 46 -- Seimone Augustus scored 22 points at Baton Rouge and the Lady Tigers (14-0, 3-0) won their 17th straight game in the SEC. Stacy Booker led South Carolina (9-6, 0-3) with 15 points.

No. 7 Connecticut 92, Cincinnati 71 -- Mel Thomas had 16 points in the second half to lead the Huskies (14-2, 4-0) in a Big East game at Hartford, Conn. Cincinnati (10-4, 0-3) was held to one field goal in the first seven minutes of the second half.

No. 8 Ohio State 72, Iowa 62 -- Jessica Davenport had 34 points, 16 rebounds and six assists to help Ohio State (12-2, 3-1) win a Big Ten game at Iowa City. Crystal Smith led the Hawkeyes (10-6, 3-2) with 26 points.

No. 9 Michigan State 69, Wisconsin 63 -- Liz Shimek scored 18 points and grabbed her 1,000th rebound to lead the Spartans (13-4, 3-1) in a Big Ten game at Madison, Wis. Ashley Josephson led Wisconsin (6-10, 1-4) with 15 points.

No. 12 Purdue 60, No. 17 Minnesota 56 -- Aya Traore scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half and overtime to lift Purdue (13-2, 5-0) to a Big Ten victory at Minneapolis. The Gophers are 10-4, 3-1.

No. 15 Arizona State 44, Oregon 43 -- Emily Westerberg made a three-pointer with 13 seconds left to lead Arizona State (13-3, 4-2) to the Pac-10 win at Tempe, Ariz. The Ducks (10-5, 1-4) lost for the fourth time in six games.

No. 23 Vanderbilt 87, Mississippi State 48 -- Liz Sherwood scored 16 points in the first half to lead Vanderbilt (12-4, 1-1) to the SEC win at Nashville. Mississippi State is 6-10, 1-2.
