Luongo’s 100th Win Is a Shutout, 4-0
Roberto Luongo’s personal milestone only made the Florida Panthers’ latest victory that much better.
Luongo and his teammates just wanted a win.
The Panther goalie earned his 100th victory by making 22 saves in a 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night at Sunrise, Fla.
“It [100th win] is nice to get, but the two points are much more encouraging,” Luongo said. “It’s a huge game for us.”
Martin Gelinas, Chris Gratton, Olli Jokinen and Jozef Stumpel all scored against New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur, who earlier in the day agreed to a six-year contract extension that will pay him $31.2 million.
Columbus 4, Minnesota 3 -- Minnesota defenseman Nick Schultz deflected the puck into his own net with 6:33 remaining to give the Blue Jackets a 4-3 victory at Columbus, Ohio, and end the Wild’s franchise-best, five-game winning streak.
Sergei Fedorov was credited with the goal on Schultz’s miscue, which capped Columbus’ three-goal rally in the third period.
Ron Hainsey, Bryan Berard and Rick Nash also scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won six in a row at home against the Wild.
