Lawyers in Exxon Case to Get $320 Million in Fees
Five law firms that represented gas station owners who sued Exxon Mobil Corp., claiming that they were cheated out of fuel discounts, will split $320 million in fees.
U.S. District Judge Alan Gold in Miami ordered payment of $247 million to lead counsel Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson. The firm that filed the 1991 lawsuit, Pertnoy, Solowsky & Allen, will get $53 million.
Gold’s ruling ends a yearlong dispute over the fees, which will come out of Exxon Mobil’s $1.08-billion settlement with at least 11,000 gas station owners.
