Reliever Bryan Corey outshined a pair of highly touted rookie left-handers for his first major league win, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 7-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox Saturday at Fenway Park.

The teams were supposed to play a day-night doubleheader, but rain delayed the start of the first game 4 hours 47 minutes, forcing the postponement of the second game. It will be made up today as part of a day-night doubleheader.

Manny Ramirez hit his 450th homer for the Red Sox, becoming the 31st major league player to reach that plateau.

Corey, 32, who began his major league career with Arizona in 1998 -- and had made four total appearances with the Diamondbacks and Dodgers -- struck out all four batters he faced. Corey, whose last big league appearance came with the Dodgers in 2002, previously had one strikeout in five innings.

Jon Lester, making his first start for the Red Sox, struck out his first batter, Gary Matthews Jr., on four pitches before the Rangers scored two runs. In all, he yielded three runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings. The Rangers’ John Rheinecker lasted 5 2/3 innings, yielding three runs and nine hits.

Chicago 4, Cleveland 3 -- Tadahito Iguchi singled to score Pablo Ozuna with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning off closer Bob Wickman, who was eight for eight this season and had the majors’ longest current streak with 24 consecutive saves dating to last season.

Detroit 5, Toronto 3 -- Ted Lilly (5-7) had a season-high 12 strikeouts for the host Blue Jays, but he lost his third consecutive start. He is 1-5 in his last six outings. The Tigers improved to 12-3 when facing a left-handed starter, second-best in the majors behind the Yankees (14-3).

Oakland 5, New York 2 -- Kirk Saarloos combined with three relievers on a six-hitter at Yankee Stadium to help the Athletics (31-31) win for the fourth time in five games and move back to .500 for the first time since May 22.

Tampa Bay 9, Kansas City 5 -- Casey Fossum, making his first start since May 24 after being out because of a strained left groin, yielded one run and seven hits in six innings to earn his first victory since April 28.

Reggie Sanders of the host Royals hit his 300th career home run, a two-run shot in the ninth. He is fifth player in major league history with 300 homers and 300 stolen bases. Willie Mays, Bobby Bonds, Andre Dawson and Barry Bonds are the others.

Baltimore 9, Minnesota 7 -- Daniel Cabrera, making his second appearance since a three-week stint on the disabled list because of shoulder inflammation, pitched six scoreless innings at Minneapolis to win for the third time in six starts.
