Focus on Priorities Starts in High School

So Mater Dei’s athletes get a new multimillion-dollar mega-gym, complete with Jumbotrons, state-of-the-art weight rooms and other expensive goodies.

Meanwhile, thousands of California students make do with antiquated athletic facilities, rotting classroom buildings, inadequate school supplies and unsafe campuses, because there isn’t enough public funding to give these kids what they need.

Winning programs deserve plaudits and special recognition, but something is seriously out of whack here.
