5 LONGEST ACTIVE STREAKS OF PASSES THROWN WITHOUT AN INTERCEPTION
Carson Palmer
Cincinnati
* 154: In his last three starts vs. Baltimore, he had eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
David Garrard
Jacksonville
* 150: His 1.3 interception percentage is the lowest of any QB since the NFL-AFL merger.
Brett Favre
Green Bay
* 106: He’s on pace for only 11 interceptions this season, which would be his fewest since 1992.
Bruce Gradkowski
Tampa Bay
* 100: His receivers aren’t helping much; they’ve dropped 13 passes since Week 5.
Daunte Culpepper
Miami
* 83: His replacement, Joey Harrington, has thrown for 10 interceptions against the Bears.
*
5 POISED FOR A BREAKOUT
* QB Carson Palmer, Cincinnati -- In his last three starts against Baltimore, he has a 127.6 rating with eight touchdown passes.
* QB Rex Grossman, Chicago -- He has 11 touchdown passes and no interceptions in four home starts. Miami should offer little resistance.
* DE Bobby McCray, Jacksonville -- Watch out Titans: McCray has six sacks in his last seven games.
* RB Deuce McAllister, New Orleans -- In three career starts in Tampa, he’s averaging 103 yards -- and he’s the only opposing back to have two 100-yard-plus games there.
* TE Chris Cooley, Washington -- In his last home game against Dallas, Cooley scored three touchdowns.
*
5 POISED FOR A BREAKDOWN
* RB Clinton Portis, Washington -- Portis, who sat out the first game against Dallas, has averaged 72.5 yards rushing in previous four meetings.
* QB Charlie Frye, Cleveland -- In each of his last eight starts, Frye has seen one of his passes intercepted. San Diego should be no exception.
* QB J.P. Losman, Buffalo -- Green Bay should offer some reprieve, but the Bills have been outscored, 88-30, in a three-game losing streak.
* RB Travis Henry, Tennessee -- Even though he’s playing well at the moment, Henry averaged only 2.2 yards a carry in his last two games at Jacksonville.
* WR Terrell Owens, Dallas -- In seven starts against Washington, he has averaged only three catches and 33 yards a game.
*
5 RISK-TAKERS
* Minnesota -- The Vikings are the only team to fake a field goal twice this season; they were successful once.
* Kansas City -- The Chiefs fooled the opposition on a fake punt this season. No one else has tried.
* San Francisco -- The 49ers recovered one of two onside kicks. That’s better than the Cowboys, Dolphins, Saints, Redskins and Rams -- all 0 for 2.
* Pittsburgh -- The Steelers have gone for it on fourth down a league-high 11 times, converting six.
* New Orleans -- The Saints have played fast and loose with their timeouts, burning a league-high 12 in the first and third quarters.
*
5 LOCKS
* Chicago over Miami -- Dolphins are completely overmatched against the best team in football.
* Atlanta over Detroit -- The Falcons won in Detroit last season, 27-7. This should be no closer.
* New York Giants over Houston -- The Texans have lost 11 consecutive road games. Soon, make that 12.
* Denver over Pittsburgh -- The Broncos can exact a small measure of revenge for last season’s playoff loss.
* San Diego over Cleveland -- Even without Shawne Merriman, this shouldn’t be too tough for the Chargers.
Last week: 3-2.
Season: 31-9.
