Criminal charges against a staff sergeant in the drowning death of a Marine at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot have been dismissed, officials announced Thursday.
Staff Sgt. Fernando Galvan will no longer face charges of negligent homicide and dereliction of duty in the 2005 death of Staff Sgt. Andrew Gonzales.
Staff Sgt. David Roughan and Staff Sgt. Duane Dishon were acquitted of similar charges during courts-martial.
