An open mike gets overlooked

I was sorry to note that the popular Variety Night at Boulevard Music was omitted from your cover story [“Acts of Daring,” by Jeff Miller, Sept. 7] on open mike nights in Southern California.

This is my 32nd year of producing such performances in the Los Angeles area, including the night at McCabe’s Guitar Shop from 1975 to 1998. When I opened the store in Culver City, I continued the open mike night here. During my tenure at McCabe’s, the show was listed in the LA Weekly as the best open mike in L.A.

Variety Night, held on the third Sunday of the month (with sign-ups on the first Sunday), has drawn praise from performers and patrons alike, and I invite those interested in these special performances to visit our website at www.boulevardmusic.com.
