Pedestrian in fast lane of 10 Freeway is killed
A 30-year-old Banning man who apparently was walking in the fast lane of the 10 Freeway was struck and killed early Sunday, authorities said.
The incident was reported at 2:54 a.m. in the westbound lanes just west of Indian Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 64-year-old driver of a Nissan Sentra told CHP officers that he saw the pedestrian walking in the traffic lane but couldn’t avoid hitting him. The unidentified victim died at the scene.
The driver was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a fractured right wrist and cuts and bruises, officers said.
