Apparent mugging leaves man dead
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A man was shot and killed Monday in an apparent mugging on South Halladay Street near Roosevelt Elementary School, police said.
The victim, who appeared to be in his 40s, had not been identified, Santa Ana police spokesman Sgt. Lorenzo Carrillo said, and witnesses gave sparse information regarding the male shooter.
The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. after children had already been released from school and left the area, Carrillo said.
