Vikings...42 Lions...10
MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns in his return from a knee injury to lead the Minnesota Vikings over the Detroit Lions, 42-10.
Tarvaris Jackson was 18 for 24 for 204 yards and two touchdowns, and the Vikings (6-6) scored touchdowns on their first six possessions to win their third game in a row and fourth of five.
Jon Kitna threw for 260 yards and one touchdown for the Lions (6-6), who have lost four in a row.
The Lions had only 23 yards in seven carries against the league’s top-ranked run defense.
Peterson returned after sitting out two weeks because of a torn ligament in his right knee.
He had a 28-yard run on the Vikings’ first possession to set up a touchdown run by Chester Taylor, then had a 16-yard scoring run to help the Vikings lead, 14-3.
Taylor had 70 yards rushing and the Vikings finished with 216 yards on the ground.
Quoteworthy: “We feel like we’re getting on a roll and we want to stay on that roll.” -- Tarvaris Jackson, Vikings quarterback
