Arizona keeps winning without Coach Lute Olson.

Jerryd Bayless made six free throws in the final 31 seconds of overtime, and the 22nd-ranked Wildcats pulled out a 78-72 nonconference victory over Illinois on Saturday in Chicago.

The victory came two days after the Wildcats (6-2) learned their Hall of Fame coach would not return this season. Olson filed for a divorce from his second wife, Christine, and plans to return for the 2008-09 season. Kevin O’Neill is the interim coach.

Jordan Hill had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Wildcats, and Bayless had 20 points. Shaun Pruitt had 24 points and nine rebounds for Illinois (5-3).

No. 12 Pittsburgh 75, Washington 74 -- Justin Dentmon’s runner in the lane as the buzzer sounded was disallowed after a lengthy review, and the 12th-ranked Panthers (9-0) held off the Huskies (4-4) in a nonconference game at Seattle.

Dentmon took an inbound pass the length of the court and scored as time expired. Initially, it appeared Dentmon’s basket came after the sound of the horn. Officials reviewed video for nearly five minutes, with the Washington student section shouting in their ears, but agreed the shot came late.

Washington’s four losses are to Syracuse, Texas A&M;, Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh.

The Panthers started 7-0 at home, then went across town to beat Duquesne, 73-68, on Wednesday.
