Re “O’Malley’s long road to the Hall of Fame,” Dec. 4

If Walter O’Malley is going into the Hall of Fame, then fairness demands that the taxpayers of Los Angeles circa 1958 be inducted alongside him.

Believe it or not, some of us are old enough to remember the filing of a taxpayers lawsuit against the arrangement our local politicos came up with to facilitate the move West. We won -- only to have it overturned by the state Supreme Court.

Perhaps it seems a sweet victory for the O’Malley family to see Walter’s memory honored in Cooperstown. But it will never be as sweet as that land deal he got to relocate the Dodgers to Los Angeles.
