A former top-ranking county sheriff’s administrator was convicted Friday of driving while intoxicated in his county-issued car.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested Michael Aranda, 62, in June after he failed a field sobriety test during a late-evening traffic stop on the 14 Freeway near Acton.

During a hearing at Los Angeles County Superior Court in Newhall, he pleaded no contest to driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit, a misdemeanor.

Judge Graciela L. Freixes ordered Aranda to pay a $1,500 fine and placed him on probation for three years.

Aranda also was ordered to attend an alcohol-education program.
