3 are found guilty in hate crime
Three men were found guilty Friday of stabbing a black man last December in Claremont in what authorities have called a hate crime, according to court officials.
Joseph Dale McCool, 21, of Yucca Valley; Anthony Scott Allen, 24, of Big Bear City; and Ryan Christopher White, 29, of Joshua Tree were convicted in a Pomona courtroom of attempted murder and assault charges in the Dec. 8, 2006, attack on Charles Washington.
The three are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 1.
A fourth man, Chad Timothy Milson, 21, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors Thursday and received three years’ probation, according to the court.
Police said the four were on their way to a white supremacist rally in Westwood when they encountered Washington and a companion at a Claremont shopping center.
