Not bowled over
Thanks to Chris Dufresne for pointing out the obvious, this year’s bowl matchups are hardly worth setting the TiVo. The bowl system, like the Coliseum Commission, is a train wreck. Every time someone defends the system and decries a playoff, they are saying the PapaJohns.com Bowl is worth more than having a championship decided on the field.
Take the four BCS bowl matchups this year. In a system not driven by greed, we would be calling them what they are: quarterfinals.
