Manhattan cuts off Pepperdine

NEW YORK -- Manhattan built a 10-point lead midway through the second half and held on for an 80-79 victory Friday night over Pepperdine.
The Waves (5-9) trailed, 57-47, before rallying for a 64-64 tie with 6 minutes 13 seconds left, but they weren’t able to retake the lead. Pepperdine’s only edge came at 44-42 after Rico Tucker’s three-point play with 16:58 left. Jamel Ferguson’s free throw with six seconds left gave the Jaspers (7-4) an 80-76 lead. Pepperdine’s Tyrone Shelley made a three-point shot at the buzzer.
