Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith scored 28 points apiece, and the Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors, 123-111, Monday night at Denver.

Anthony sat out much of the fourth quarter after his bruised right thigh, which he hurt in the first half, tightened up. He wasn’t really needed after the Nuggets stretched a six-point halftime lead to 18 by the end of the third quarter.

Warriors guard Stephen Jackson was late for the game after attending the trial in Indianapolis of a man who hit him with a car during a fight outside a strip club last fall.

Jackson started the second half and quickly picked up a technical foul for arguing a call with a referee. He finished with nine points.

Al Harrington led the Warriors with 24 points.

Utah 102, Atlanta 76 -- Mehmet Okur had 19 points and six rebounds before sitting out the fourth quarter at Salt Lake City in the Jazz’s fifth straight victory.

Atlanta’s five-game road winning streak ended and it lost for the 13th straight time in Utah dating to February 1993. Marvin Williams had 15 points for the Hawks.
