Ducks trade for Jackman
In a move to shore up their depleted defensive corps, the Ducks on Wednesday acquired Ric Jackman from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2007 draft pick.
Jackman is joining his sixth NHL team, having played 207 games with Dallas, Boston, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Florida. The Toronto native has one goal in seven games with Florida. Jackman, 6 feet 2 and 197 pounds, had his best season in 2005-06 with seven goals and 23 assists while splitting time with Pittsburgh and Florida. He has a career minus-57 rating.
With the acquisition of Jackman, Aaron Rome was returned to the club’s minor-league affiliate in Portland, Maine.
The Ducks gave up a seventh-round pick, but it would move to the sixth round if they get to the Stanley Cup finals. The move came after Chris Pronger and Francois Beauchemin went out with injuries until February.
