Actress Lindsay Lohan surrendered to Beverly Hills police Thursday and was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol.

A news release from the Beverly Hills Police Department said the actress, accompanied by an unidentified lawyer, completed the booking process “without incident.” She was then released on her own recognizance.

The charges stem from a May 26 accident in Beverly Hills in which Lohan, who has undergone rehab, crashed her Mercedes convertible and was slightly injured. The crash occurred while she was driving at 5:30 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard.

She was initially arrested after the accident on suspicion of drunk driving. The car ended up striking a curb and shrubbery along Foothill Road. According to an initial report, two other people in the 2005 Mercedes SL65 were not hurt.

A hearing is set for Aug. 24 in Beverly Hills Superior Court.
