Police search for mother of children found alone
Riverside police Wednesday were searching for the missing mother of an 8-year-old autistic boy and an 18-month-old girl found by a baby-sitter at a home in the 19300 block of Totem Court.
Police believe the children of Melissa Lindstrom, 35, were alone for hours. The mother last made contact with a family friend Monday night. The children were found Tuesday afternoon.
Both were taken into protective custody, and the younger child was treated for cuts. Police say they found Lindstrom’s abandoned car in Riverside on Wednesday evening.
Authorities say they saw no evidence of foul play at the residence where the children were found.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (951) 353-7125 or (951) 353-7104.
