* at Boston 11, New York 6: The Yankees scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead, but the Red Sox tied it in the bottom half on back-to-back homers by Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek. Derek Jeter homered in the seventh to give New York the lead before committing errors on consecutive plays during Boston’s five-run seventh. “It seemed like every time we scored, they scored some runs,” Jeter said. “And I didn’t help.”

* Kansas City 9, at Tampa Bay 4: Former Dodger Odalis Perez (3-5) won for the first time since beating Minnesota on April 25. He had been winless in six starts -- including three losses. He beat Edwin Jackson -- also a former Dodger -- who is 0-7 with a 7.77 earned-run average.

* Detroit 9, at Cleveland 5: Chad Durbin won despite yielding five runs and eight hits, including two homers, in 5 1/3 innings. Durbin (5-1) hasn’t lost since his first start of the season against Baltimore on April 9, a span of 10 starts.

* at Toronto 9, Chicago 3: Aaron Hill hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning, and the Blue Jays put the game out of reach with a five-run eighth. Alex Rios keyed the rally with a three-run homer.

* at Seattle 5, Texas 4: Jose Guillen started a three-run rally with a homer, and Miguel Batista won his third straight decision. Ichiro Suzuki went 0 for 4 for the Mariners, ending his club-record 25-game hitting streak.

* at Oakland 1, Minnesota 0: Joe Blanton pitched a career-best three hitter and the A’s ended the Twins’ season-best five-game winning streak.

* at Angels 7, Baltimore 4: Joe Saunders (3-0), pitching in place of the ailing Bartolo Colon, yielded two runs and four hits in six innings.
