* Detroit 10, at Texas 0: Gary Sheffield homered twice and drove in five runs, leading Justin Verlander and the Tigers past the Rangers, who have lost 11 of 14 and have the worst record in the majors (21-38).

* Tampa Bay 6, at Toronto 2: Carl Crawford drove in four runs and the Devil Rays’ bullpen combined for four scoreless innings. On Tuesday, Tampa Bay gave up six runs in the ninth inning of a 12-11 loss.

* Kansas City 4, at Cleveland 3: Newly promoted Joey Gathright gave the Royals an immediate boost, helping Brian Bannister win his second straight start. Gathright had two hits, a stolen base, a sacrifice bunt and a run scored.

* New York 5, at Chicago 1: Chien-Ming Wang gave the Yankees their first complete game since last summer, giving up five hits and striking out four. Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run single off the left-field wall in a four-run third inning and Bobby Abreu, who has 10 hits in his last 21 at-bats, had a solo homer in the eighth for New York, which has won five of seven.

* Baltimore 9, at Seattle 5: Jay Gibbons ended an 0-for-22 slide with two hits and the Orioles rallied from a 4-0 deficit to end a five-game losing streak. Daniel Cabrera (5-6) gave up four runs in the first two innings, then held the Mariners to two hits in his last six innings and won for the first time in five road starts this season.

* at Oakland 3, Boston 2: Santiago Casilla got four outs for his first career save.

* Minnesota 8, at Angels 5: The Twins’ Kevin Slowey earned his first major league win.
