* at Minnesota 6, Atlanta 0: Carlos Silva threw his second career shutout and Torii Hunter drove in two runs with a bunt single and a homer. It was the first complete game shutout for the Twins since Johan Santana blanked Oakland on Aug. 12, 2005. Chipper Jones came off the disabled list to hit singles in each of his first three at-bats for Atlanta.

* San Diego 9, at Tampa Bay 0: Jake Peavy gave up two hits in seven innings and the Padres hit three home runs in ending a season-worst four-game losing streak. Peavy (8-1), who lowered his National League-leading ERA to 1.82, struck out eight in limiting the Devil Rays to fifth-inning singles.

* St. Louis 7, at Kansas City 3: Adam Wainwright gave up one hit in a career-best eight innings and Albert Pujols drove in three runs. Wainwright (5-5) had given up only two baserunners -- on a walk and an infield error -- when Esteban German singled with two out in the sixth to break up the no-hitter.

* at Chicago Cubs 3, Seattle 2: Sean Marshall pitched eight strong innings, and the Cubs ended the Mariners’ five-game winning streak. Mike Fontenot’s two-run single with the bases loaded in the fifth broke a 1-1 tie and sent the Mariners to only their second loss in 11 games.

* Colorado 12, at Boston 2: Todd Helton drove in four runs and Brad Hawpe hit a three-run homer as the Rockies roughed up Curt Schilling in his first start since his near no-hitter at Oakland. Boston’s lead in the American League East fell to 8 1/2 games, its smallest since it led by nine after games on May 16.

* at Philadelphia 8, Chicago White Sox 4: Aaron Rowand hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, helping the Phillies complete their first home sweep this season. Jim Thome received a standing ovation in his first game in Philadelphia since the Phillies traded him to the White Sox in 2005.

* Cleveland 7, at Florida 3: David Dellucci broke a tie with a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner each had two hits for the Indians, who won at Florida for the first time since Game 6 of the 1997 World Series.

* Milwaukee 3, at Detroit 2: Bill Hall hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning to lead the Brewers. Milwaukee’s Chris Capuano was scratched from his scheduled start because of a strained left groin.

* Oakland 7, at Houston 3: Mark Ellis hit a two-run double in the eighth inning off Dan Wheeler as the Athletics rallied. Eric Chavez had a two-run single during the five-run eighth and also homered for the A’s, who have won nine of their last 11.

* Toronto 7, at San Francisco 4: Aaron Hill had a two-run single in a five-run fourth inning and Matt Stairs drove in two runs as the Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep.

* Washington 9, at Baltimore 6 (11 innings): Felipe Lopez tripled with the bases loaded off closer Chris Ray in the 11th inning. Jay Payton had four hits for Baltimore, sending the game into extra innings with the 1,000th of his career.

* at Pittsburgh 8, Texas 1: Ian Snell pitched his first career complete game and Jose Bautista had three hits and three RBIs for the Pirates.

* at New York Yankees 7, Arizona 2: Alex Rodriguez hit his major league-leading 25th homer and the Yankees extended their season-high winning streak to eight games.

* Angels 6, at Cincinnati 3: Vladimir Guerrero drove in four runs and John Lackey (10-4) became the major leagues’ first 10-game winner.

* at Dodgers 9, New York Mets 1: Brad Penny lowered his ERA to 2.18 to help complete a three-game sweep.
