* Texas 8, at Detroit 3: Marlon Byrd drove in three runs and the Rangers ended Jeremy Bonderman’s unbeaten streak at 17 starts. Bonderman (8-1) struck out a season-high nine batters but walked four, matching the total in his last five starts combined, and made a key third-inning error.
* Chicago 5, at Tampa Bay 4: Rookie Andy Gonzalez had four hits and drove in two runs to help the White Sox end a five-game skid. Left-hander John Danks (4-6) won for the first time in more than a month.
* Toronto 8, at Minnesota 5: Matt Stairs hit the Blue Jays’ third homer of the game, a two-run shot that broke a tie in the eighth inning and helped Roy Halladay (9-2) win his fifth consecutive decision.
* at Seattle 9, Boston 4: Jeff Weaver (2-6) won his second consecutive start, giving up an earned run and six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Jose Lopez capped a five-run fifth inning with a two-run single, and Kenji Johjima and Adrian Beltre hit consecutive home runs for the Mariners.
* at Cleveland 5, Oakland 2: C.C. Sabathia joined Boston’s Josh Beckett as the only 11-game winners in the major leagues and Ryan Garko drove in two runs for the Indians with a fourth-inning double.
* Kansas City 5, at Angels 3: John Thomson won in his debut with the Royals, outpitching John Lackey.
