Holland is out as San Diego coach

Brad Holland’s 13-year run as coach at San Diego ended Thursday when the school bought out the final year of his contract.

Holland was 200-176, with one NCAA tournament appearance and no regular-season West Coast Conference championships. The Toreros upset top-seeded Gonzaga to win the WCC tournament in 2003 and advance to the NCAA tournament.

Nevada guard Kyle Shiloh suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of an 88-56 victory over Idaho and could miss the rest of the postseason. Shiloh slipped on a logo sign in the second half of the Western Athletic Conference tournament game at Las Cruces, N.M. Nevada Coach Mark Fox criticized the use of the promotional signs.

“Let that be a national statement for those stupid stickers they put on the court,” Fox said.
