COMING ATTRACTIONS
So much for the Mavericks’ immortality. Now to see about their title chances.
Puncturing their aura, Phoenix stunned them in a double-overtime classic in Dallas on Wednesday that transfixed the entire league, coming from 15 behind in the fourth quarter ... and wiping out a 110-105 deficit in the last :14 ... after Josh Howard fouled Steve Nash on a three-point attempt ... and MVP candidate Dirk Nowitzki missed a free throw, leaving the door open for MVP candidate Nash to tie it with a three-pointer.
Not that the Mavericks were humbled, but owner Mark Cuban just noted that Nowitzki isn’t “that one intimidating force.”
Today Dallas is in Detroit (Channel 7, 12:30 p.m.), where the Pistons will try to show that the Mavericks aren’t a lock even if they make it out of the West.
Not that it’s a must win, but another loss is really going to put a crimp in Cuban’s week.
