Away from ‘The Office’

Rainn Wilson, wife Holiday Reinhorn and son Walter live in Agoura Hills, an equestrian community where former Army brat Reinhorn, a devoted rider, can pursue her passion. As for Wilson, the sci-fi geek has morphed into a tennis bum -- albeit a bum with a “Star Wars” sensibility. “I just started studying with Zach Kleiman, who teaches the inner game of tennis [popularized in “The Inner Game of Tennis” by instructor Timothy Gallwey]. It’s all about your relationship to the ball and your vision for the ball and seeing the ball the way it is in the moment, noticing your breath as you’re playing. It’s a completely different way of approaching the game,” Wilson says, adding that Kleiman now teaches Gallwey. “The student has surpassed the teacher. It’s basically like playing tennis with Yoda.”

Wilson plays a lot at Studio City Golf and Tennis. “It’s kind of old-fashioned. There’s usually a bunch of old duffers who once did guest spots on ‘Starsky and Hutch’ or ‘Barney Miller’ playing. I love it there.” He would, however, “welcome an invitation to play tennis with producer Bob Evans on his home court,” where various Hollywood execs get in weekend games.

Despite his granola-fied first name, Wilson’s a devout meat lover. “I had the best steak ever at Musso & Frank -- a filet that I remember fondly.” But with a kid and living in Agoura Hills, the actor says going out generally means sticking to the neighborhood. “I’m a big sushi aficionado, and my favorite local place is Brother’s in Woodland Hills. Their sushi is fantastic.”
