* at Detroit 3, Baltimore 2: Gary Sheffield went four for four with a home run and an RBI single, and Craig Monroe hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning to help the Tigers to their first sweep of the year and a season-high fourth straight victory. Baltimore has lost four in a row and nine of 10. Nate Robertson (3-1) gave up two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. Jason Grilli replaced Robertson and struck out Jay Payton with a runner on second. Fernando Rodney pitched a scoreless eighth and Todd Jones worked a perfect ninth for his 10th save in 12 opportunities.

* at Seattle 3, Chicago 2: Yuniesky Betancourt hit a tiebreaking home run in the seventh inning and Miguel Batista (3-2) gave up two runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings to lead the Mariners to their seventh victory in their last eight games. Jose Guillen also homered and Raul Ibanez had an RBI double to help the Mariners send Chicago to its fourth consecutive loss. Batista (3-2) gave up solo homers to Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko but only three singles besides that.

* at Tampa Bay 4, Minnesota 3 (10 innings): Pinch-hitter Dioner Navarro drove in the winning run with a grounder in the 10th inning. Tampa Bay tied it with two runs in the ninth off Twins closer Joe Nathan. Elijah Dukes pulled Tampa Bay to 3-2 with a two-out RBI single before Ty Wigginton’s run-scoring single tied it. Torii Hunter pushed his career-high hitting streak to 17 games with a two-run homer.

* at Cleveland 7, Toronto 6 (11 innings): Travis Hafner dribbled an RBI double down the third-base line, out of the reach of an overshifted infield, to help the Indians to their ninth victory in 10 games. Indians starter Jake Westbrook was forced out in the second inning by tightness in his abdominal muscle and could be headed to the disabled list.

* at Boston 6, Oakland 4: Every Red Sox batter had at least one hit.

* New York at Texas, ppd. rain: The game will be made up today as part of a doubleheader.

* at Kansas City 3, Angels 1: The Royals won despite stranding runners at third base in three innings.
