McCartney gets a date

It may yet be a long and winding road until all is seamlessly synergistic between EMI Records and Apple Inc. when it comes to all things Beatles. A day after EMI announced that Paul McCartney’s solo and Wings albums would be available for download, with no specifics on when or where that would happen, Apple on Tuesday announced that they will go up on iTunes by the end of this month.

The target date is next Tuesday, but that wasn’t included in Apple’s announcement.

Additionally, iTunes will have McCartney’s new album, “Memory Almost Full,” ready online June 5, the day of its physical release in the U.S. Online pre-orders began Tuesday, offering U.S. fans a free video download of the album’s first single, “Dance Tonight,” as a pre-order bonus.

The subject of “Memory’s” online availability wasn’t covered by EMI’s announcement because it will be McCartney’s first for the new Starbucks-Concord Music Group label Hear Music after he recently left his longtime home at EMI-Capitol.
