* at Cleveland 110, New York 106: LeBron James bounced back from a 10-point performance in a season-opening loss to Dallas by scoring 45 points, the most points ever by a Cleveland player against the Knicks. World B. Free scored 39 against them in 1984.

* Detroit 116, at Orlando 92: Chauncey Billups had 18 points and seven assists to lead the Pistons to a second straight victory without Richard Hamilton. The Magic was looking to avenge eight losses against the Pistons last season.

* at Indiana 87, Miami 85: Shaquille O’Neal fouled out with 5:07 to go. He had eight points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes, shot four for 13 and had six turnovers. Miami Coach Pat Riley announced before the game that All-Star guard Dwyane Wade had been cleared to play.

* at Charlotte 102, Milwaukee 99: Raymond Felton made two free throws with 0.1 of a second left to preserve the victory. His two free throws with 1:41 left had put the Bobcats ahead to stay.

* Philadelphia 96, at Chicago 85: Even though General Manager John Paxson put to rest the Kobe Bryant trade rumors, some disappointed Bulls fans made it clear they wouldn’t mind seeing the Lakers’ superstar in a Chicago uniform, chanting “Kobe! Kobe!” in the closing seconds.

* at San Antonio 96, Sacramento 80: The Spurs are 3-0 for the first time since the 2000-01 season, when they finished with the best record in the league. The Spurs announced that Tim Duncan signed a contract extension that likely means he will end his career with them. The Spurs didn’t release any specifics, calling it a “multiyear contract extension.”

* at Atlanta 101, Dallas 94: Joe Johnson scored 28 points to help the Hawks open the season with a home win for the first time since the 1998-99 season, the last time they appeared in the playoffs.

* Toronto 106, at New Jersey 69: The Raptors set a team record for margin of victory in a road game. Their previous best was 33 at San Antonio on Feb. 19, 1997.

* Denver 99, at Minnesota 91: Carmelo Anthony scored 11 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, made only two of 16 shots during the first 10 minutes of the period to let the game slip away.

* at New Orleans 113, Portland 93: Seven players scored in double figures for the Hornets, who made 11 three-pointers in a victory that wasn’t in doubt from midway through the third quarter. New Orleans led, 87-64, going into the fourth quarter.

* at Boston 103, Washington 83: Kevin Garnett had 22 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in his Celtics debut.

* at Clippers 120, Golden State 114: Cuttino Mobley made a 16-foot jumper for a 115-112 lead with 1:16 left, then made a 15-footer for a five-point lead with 48 seconds to play.

* Lakers 119, at Phoenix 98: The Suns fell behind by 29 points in the third and an embarrassing 33 in the fourth.
