Looking Ahead

Just what the Cleveland Cavaliers needed now, a fun-filled trip to the West Coast.

The Cavaliers, who start a six-game trip today in Phoenix, went 19-10 against the West last season, but that seems like a long time ago.

While other East teams made major moves, the Cavaliers still have to sign Anderson Varejao to get back to where they were.

Their players already looked discouraged in the exhibition season. “You see teams regrouping and reshaping,” said LeBron James, “and with our team, we didn’t do any regrouping.”

They then rolled over in their opener on their own floor, losing by 18 points to Dallas and coming no closer than 16 in the second half. Said Coach Mike Brown, “Our energy level just hasn’t been there consistently.”

All is not lost. James assured everyone they’ll be OK on this trip because “I’m a great leader.”

If only he had more followers.
