* at Boston 119, Denver 93: Paul Pierce scored 26 points, Kevin Garnett added 23 points and 13 rebounds and the Celtics shot 72% during a first half in which they led, 77-38. Ray Allen scored 22 points and is shooting 63% since joining the Celtics, who have won by an average of 24 points at home.

* at Atlanta 105, Phoenix 96: Josh Smith scored 22 points and rookie Al Horford grabbed 15 rebounds to give the Hawks a 56-40 edge on the boards, leading to a pivotal 29-9 advantage in second-chance points in gaining their second victory over a 60-win team from last season. They beat Dallas opening night.

* at Utah 103, Cleveland 101: Deron Williams made a layup with 1.3 seconds remaining to help the Jazz overcome LeBron James’ triple-double and tying three-pointer with six seconds left. Carlos Boozer led Utah with 23 points and 12 rebounds. James had 32 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists.

* Orlando 105, at Toronto 96: Trailing by one point with 3:56 left, the Magic used back-to-back three-point baskets by Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson to put the game away with an 8-0 run. Hedo Turkoglu had 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for Orlando and Lewis scored 24 points.

* Memphis 105, at Seattle 98: One night after blowing a 20-point lead and losing at Sacramento, the SuperSonics blew a 14-point second-half lead to fall to 0-5 -- their worst start in 38 years. Rudy Gay had 25 points for Memphis. Kevin Durant had a season-low 17 points on three-of-17 shooting for Seattle.

* at Philadelphia 94, Charlotte 63: The 76ers took a 20-point second quarter lead and forced 29 turnovers in a victory before a crowd of about 6,000. Charlotte, playing without point guard Raymond Felton (knee), narrowly avoided a franchise record-low point total of 62 with a late jumper.

* at Portland 93, New Orleans 90: The Trail Blazers broke the game open with an 18-5 run to start the second half to win their first game of the season and hand the Hornets their first loss in five games. Martell Webster and Jarrett Jack scored 20 points apiece for the Trail Blazers.

* at San Antonio 88, Miami 78: Manu Ginobili scored 25 points, including four of the Spurs’ seven three-pointers, to help San Antonio bounce back from its first loss Tuesday at Houston. The Heat remained winless, getting outrebounded, 42-33. Shaquille O’Neal had only three rebounds.

* Clippers 104, at Indiana 89: Sam Cassell scored 35 points to tie his highest point total since joining the Clippers in 2005 and Chris Kaman had 15 points and 22 rebounds to keep the Clippers unbeaten while handing the Pacers their first defeat.
