UC Riverside at Texas Tech, 11 a.m. -- Coach Jim Woolridge makes his Riverside debut and he inherits a team with 10 returning letter winners, including guard Larry Cunningham. He meets the Red Raiders, coached by Bob Knight, the all-time leader in NCAA Division I coaching victories with 890.

Chicago State at Cal State Northridge, 2 p.m. -- Forwards Calvin Chitwood and Jonathan Heard return for the Matadors, giving them an athletic front court that combined to average 26.7 points last season. Former Tulane assistant Benjy Taylor takes over a Chicago State team that was 9-20 last season.

Pepperdine at Oregon, 4 p.m. -- The Waves have nine new players on their 15-man roster as they open the season in the World Vision Invitational, where they will also play Western Michigan and Pacific. The No. 12 Ducks have four returning starters from last season’s Elite Eight team.
