1 killed in crash on 5 Freeway

One person was killed Saturday night after a big rig went over an embankment and caught fire on the northbound 5 Freeway near Calgrove Boulevard in Santa Clarita, authorities said.
The right lane was closed as investigators combed the scene and cleared the crash, said California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter. It was not clear whether the victim, who was not identified, was the truck’s driver.
Porter said the accident was under investigation.
