at No. 20 Illinois 41, Northwestern 22: A week after leading his team to an upset of then-No. 1 Ohio State, Illinois quarterback Juice Williams led the Illini (9-3, 6-2) a step closer to a New Year’s Day bowl with a win over the Wildcats (6-6, 3-5) at Champaign. Williams ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 220 yards and another score.

No. 24 Wisconsin 41, at Minnesota 34: Zach Brown rushed for 250 yards and two touchdowns in place of the injured P.J. Hill, and David Gilreath had 226 return yards to lead the Badgers (9-3, 5-3) over the Gophers (1-11, 0-8) at Minneapolis. Minnesota went winless in the Big Ten for the first time since 1983.

at Michigan State 35, Penn State 31: Jehuu Caulcrick’s one-yard touchdown plunge with just over four minutes left capped a comeback for the Spartans (7-5, 3-5) in a victory at East Lansing over the Nittany Lions (8-4, 4-4), who blew a 17-point second-half lead.

at Indiana 27, Purdue 24: Kellen Lewis had two touchdowns, and the Hoosiers (7-5, 3-5) held off the Boilermakers (7-5, 3-5) on Austin Starr’s 49-yard field goal with 30 seconds left at Bloomington.

Western Michigan 28, at Iowa 19: Tim Hiller threw for 367 yards and three touchdowns and the Broncos (4-7) stunned the Hawkeyes (6-6) at Iowa City to put Iowa’s bowl hopes in jeopardy.
