Long Beach State (1-2) at Pepperdine (0-4), 7 -- Long Beach State is coming off its first victory of the season, a 66-61 overtime win over Idaho State in which Donovan Morris had 20 points and 10 rebounds. He’s averaging 12 points and 7.3 rebounds. The Waves are playing at home for only the second time this season and don’t have another home game until Jan. 8 -- a span of 10 games. Freshman guard Tyronne Shelley had 34 points in the Waves’ last game.

Cal State Bakersfield (1-3) at Cal State Northridge (2-0), 7 -- The Matadors have scored 96 and 97 points in their first two games, with four players averaging in double figures. Jonathan Heard leads the way with 21 a game. Bakersfield, playing its first season in Division I, is led by Terrance Johns, who averages 16.8 points and 4.8 rebounds. It is the first meeting between the teams since 1990.
