* Washington 114, at Charlotte 111 (OT): Caron Butler helped make up for the loss of leading scorer Gilbert Arenas at least for a night, scoring 39 points. Butler scored seven points in overtime.

* at Boston 105, Golden State 82: Ray Allen scored 21 points and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett both had double-doubles. The Celtics improved to 9-1 overall and have won their six home games by an average of 22 points.

* Atlanta 82, at Miami 79: Josh Smith blocked Dwyane Wade’s potentially tying layup with 3.9 seconds left, Joe Johnson scored 22 points and the Hawks rallied from a 10-point deficit.

* at Detroit 98, New York 86: Chauncey Billups had season highs with 25 points and 15 assists. The Knicks have lost eight straight and speculation is growing that Coach Isiah Thomas’ job may be in jeopardy.

* Dallas 100, at Houston 94: Devin Harris scored 22 points and converted a key three-point play in the closing minutes, and the Mavericks rallied from a double-digit deficit for the second straight game.

* Cleveland 97, at Minnesota 86: LeBron James had 45 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Cavaliers. Al Jefferson had 30 points and eight rebounds for the Timberwolves, who fell to 1-8.

* Indiana 105, at New Orleans 93: Troy Murphy made up for the absence of Jermaine O’Neal with 23 points, leading the Pacers. O’Neal missed the game after tweaking his left knee in Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers.

* Toronto 95, at Memphis 89: Chris Bosh had 22 points and 19 rebounds, and the Raptors ended a two-game losing streak despite shooting 39%. Mike Miller and Pau Gasol each had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis.

* at San Antonio 128, Orlando 110: Tony Parker scored a season-high 32 points, and the Spurs (10-2) improved their home record to 7-0, while the loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Magic.

* at Phoenix 127, Sacramento 111: Shawn Marion and Steve Nash led a 47-point first quarter for the Suns. The Kings played without starters Ron Artest, who returned home to be with his ailing daughter, and Beno Udrih, who was sidelined with an injured right knee.

* New Jersey 106, at Portland 101: Jason Kidd had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists as the Nets ended a six-game losing streak. Vince Carter played for the Nets after missing five games with a sprained ankle.

* at Clippers 101, Denver 90: Chris Kaman had 21 rebounds and 17 points for the Clippers, who had lost four of five after a 4-0 start. The Nuggets’ six-game winning streak ended.

* at Milwaukee 110, Lakers 103: Michael Redd scored 26 points and helped hold Kobe Bryant in check as the Bucks won their fourth in a row.
