Pepperdine pulls away, 90-80
BAKERSFIELD -- Malcolm Thomas and Rio Tucker scored 16 points apiece to lead Pepperdine over Cal State Bakersfield, 90-80, on Sunday.
Jason Walberg came off the bench to score 14 points for Pepperdine (2-4).
Cal State Bakersfield (1-5) took a 47-40 lead two minutes into the second half on a jump shot by Santwon Latunde. The Waves responded with two field goals and took advantage of two turnovers to gain a 48-47 lead with 16:12 left. Pepperdine did not trail again. Bakersfield had led 39-36 at halftime, making nine of 10 free throws and scoring 12 points off 12 Pepperdine turnovers.
