* at San Jose 3, Nashville 0: Jeremy Roenick scored a power-play goal early in the second period, and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 22 shots to record his first shutout this season and 35th of his career. Roenick, signed as a free agent in September, scored his 498th goal. He’s trying to become the third U.S.-born player to score 500 goals.

* Minnesota 3, at St. Louis 1: Eric Belanger had a goal and an assist, Josh Harding made 33 saves and the Wild remained the NHL’s only unbeaten team. Martin Rucinsky had an assist for the Blues, his 600th point.

* Detroit 5, at Phoenix 2: Kirk Maltby scored two second-period goals, and Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist to give him an NHL-best 17 points. He has at least one point in each of the Red Wings’ games, a career-best scoring streak.

* Pittsburgh 2, at Washington 1: Sidney Crosby set up the go-ahead goal on a power play, and the Penguins won their second game in a row. The Capitals have lost four consecutive games after starting 3-0.

* at Montreal 4, Buffalo 2: Roman Hamrlik had a goal and two assists, and the Canadiens ended a three-game losing streak. Paul Gaustad and Derek Roy scored nine seconds apart for the Sabres, who lost their second game in a row to start a five-game trip.

* at Boston 1, New York Rangers 0: Phil Kessel scored on a wrist shot past Hendrik Lundqvist and under the crossbar for the only goal in a shootout. The former University of Minnesota star had four shootout winners as a rookie last season.

* at Philadelphia 3, Carolina 2: Simon Gagne scored his second goal of the game 48 seconds into overtime and the Flyers won their fifth consecutive game, and their fourth in a row at home.

* at New York Islanders 4, New Jersey 3: Bill Guerin’s power-play goal with 3.7 seconds left in overtime gave the Islanders the win after they squandered a two-goal lead in the third period.

* Chicago 6, at Toronto 4: The Blackhawks scored five goals in the third period, including two in a span of 30 seconds. The Blackhawks were playing in Toronto for the first time since Feb. 3, 2004.

* at Tampa Bay 6, Atlanta 2: Martin St. Louis and Mathieu Darche scored 39 seconds apart during a three-goal second period to help the Lightning stay unbeaten in four home games.

* at Calgary 4, Edmonton 1: Jarome Iginla scored the go-ahead goal and had two assists to extend his point-scoring streak to five games. During that time he has five goals and 11 points. The Flames have earned points in five consecutive games (4-0-1) and have begun a season-long seven-game homestand with two victories.

* at Ottawa 4, Florida 1: Making his first regular-season NHL start since off-season wrist surgery, Ray Emery made 31 saves to help lift the Senators. Emery played two games the previous weekend for the Senators’ AHL affiliate in Binghamton.

* at Dallas 3, Ducks 1: Mike Ribeiro and Jere Lehtinen each had a goal and an assist, and Marty Turco made 20 saves for the Stars.
