* at Columbus 3, St. Louis 0: Rick Nash scored a goal in his fifth straight game and Pascal Leclaire stopped 36 shots. The Blue Jackets improved to 5-3-1, the best start in franchise history.

* at N.Y. Rangers 2, New Jersey 0: Martin Brodeur made 29 saves for the Rangers. The Devils finished their season-starting, nine-game trip 3-5-1.

* Toronto 5, at Pittsburgh 2: Jiri Tlusty, playing his first NHL game, scored two goals 35 seconds apart during a four-goal Maple Leafs flurry in the third period. Sidney Crosby scored his third goal.

* at Tampa Bay 5, Philadelphia 2: The Lightning tied a franchise record set in 2002 by starting the season 5-0 at home. Tampa Bay is also 12-1 against the Flyers since the start of the 2003-04 season.

* at Nashville 3, Atlanta 0: Dan Ellis stopped 20 shots for his first career shutout, helping Nashville stop a six-game losing streak.

* at Edmonton 5, Minnesota 4: Ales Hemsky scored twice in regulation and added the shootout winner.

* at Kings 2, Dallas 1: The win was the Kings’ first over Dallas since April 1, 2006, a 1-0 victory at Staples Center.
