Man tried to steal plane from airport, police say
A man who displayed signs of “stimulant drug use” crashed his Mercedes-Benz through a gate at Riverside Municipal Airport on Tuesday morning and tried to steal a small airplane, authorities said.
Orlando Brown, 25, of Riverside allegedly rammed through the gate and two chain-link fences about 6 a.m., then began looking at several parked planes. He entered one and tried to start it, but was arrested before he succeeded, said Steven Frasher, a spokesman for the Riverside Police Department.
“Brown displayed objective symptoms of stimulant drug use and was in possession of drug paraphernalia,” Frasher said in a statement.
Brown was hospitalized for evaluation, and criminal charges are possible, Frasher said.
