Rounding the bases

T.J. Simers criticizes the general manager of the Dodgers by comparing the statistics of Milton Bradley and Andre Ethier. What he fails to mention is the reason why Bradley has played for four teams in the last five years, or that Ethier is still learning in just his second major league season. It is an unfortunate sign of our Times that Mr. Simers’ job is to tease, condemn and antagonize everyone in his path. Knowledge of baseball, however, does not appear to be a job requirement.

So Ned Colletti is giddy about signing Esteban Loaiza for $7 million for next season, a guy with a lifetime 4.60 ERA and a history of injuries? What else would you expect from the man who brought us such flops as Jae Seo, Mark Hendrickson, Brett Tomko and injury-prone Randy Wolf and Jason Schmidt. I will be giddy when Colletti gets fired and Frank McCourt no longer owns the team.

The only thing better than not seeing batting practice pitcher Brett Tomko in a Dodgers uniform is seeing him in a Padres uniform. And that cost us only $1.7 million?

Can we get Darren Dreifort to sign with Arizona?

Although he certainly took his time, I would like to thank Angels General Manager Bill Stoneman for finally getting that big bat in the lineup to protect Vladimir Guerrero.

This Garret Anderson fellow is outstanding. Where on earth did he come from?
