Early morning collision kills man, injures teen

A 40-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed early Saturday when the car he was driving was broadsided at an intersection.
Faustino Perez-Cortez was pronounced dead at the scene following the 2 a.m. accident, authorities said. He was northbound on Placentia Avenue approaching Victoria Street when his Honda Accord was struck by an Acura driven by a 17-year-old boy.
The boy was treated for minor injuries and released.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, police said.
